Hear My Cry

- Composed in Loving Memory of the Holocaust Victims and Survivors -

Hear my cry, O God; attend unto my prayer. Psalm 61:1

This song is composed in loving memory of the Holocaust victims and survivors. The heart of the message highlights three key themes, specifically the importance that we must always: (1) remember the trials and tribulations of the Almighty’s chosen Jewish people, (2) pray for the peace of Jerusalem and for blessings upon His chosen people – the Apple of His eye (Psalm 122:6, Isaiah 65:19. Jeremiah 29:7), and (3) cry out to the Almighty for His divine help and intervention, beseeching the Lord as David did "Hear my cry, O God; attend unto my prayer" (Psalm 61:1). For all the horror His chosen Jewish people have faced over the centuries they can take heart in the Almighty’s words through the prophet Isaiah who proclaimed, “I will rejoice over Jerusalem and take delight in my people; the sound of weeping and of crying will be heard in it no more” (Isaiah 65:19). Indeed, and as King David said, “I love the LORD, for he heard my voice; he heard my cry for mercy” (Psalm 116:1). Accordingly, this song not only serves as a loving memory to the victims and survivors of the Holocaust but it also serves as a reminder for us to (1) cry out in our prayers for the peace of Israel and (2) cry out for the LORD’s help in our own lives. King David had a heart that was after the Almighty’s and time and time again we hear his heart crying out in anguish to the Elohim of Israel. For example, throughout Psalms David is found many times praying these three powerful words, “Hear My Cry” (Psalm 5:2, 28:2, 61:1). Furthermore, throughout the Bible this theme of “hear my cry” is well documented (e.g., Psalms, Isaiah, and Lamentations). The Almighty’s heart longs for His people to be saved. In addition, He longs to help you, He longs to commune with you, and He longs to bless you. All you need to do is cry out to Him with a holy, humble, and a contrite heart – a heart of righteousness. Indeed, “for the eyes of the Almighty are on the righteous and his ears are attentive to their prayer” (1 Peter 3:12). Yes, “the prayer of a righteous person is powerful and effective and He hears the prayer of the righteous” (Proverbs 15:29, James 5:16). Accordingly, put your hope in the Almighty, for with the Lord is unfailing love and with him is full redemption (Psalm 130:7). As King David proclaimed, “praise be to the Lord, for he has heard my cry” (Psalm 28:6).

Indeed, when you say a prayer before the Almighty know that He hears you. Yes, “He who watches over Israel will neither slumber nor sleep” (Psalm 121:4). He doesn’t simply stand by – he listens, answers, and sets free. As David declared in Psalms 84, “my soul yearns, even faints, for the courts of the Lord; my heart and my flesh cry out for the living God” (Psalm 84:2). No matter what you are facing, whether it’s your darkest hour or something of smaller scale, cry out to the Elohim of Israel for he longs to help His people. Wait patiently upon Him and He will hear your cry (Psalm 40:1). Be strong and take heart, all you who hope in the LORD, for the eyes of the Almighty are on those who fear Him, on those whose hope is in His unfailing love (Psalm 31:24, Psalm 33:18). Indeed, “In my distress I called to the Lord; I called out to my God. From His temple He heard my voice; my cry came to His ears; the Lord accepts my prayers (2 Samuel 22:7, Psalm 6:9). Above all, let this song and message remind us to never forget the atrocities done to His chosen Jewish people. Second, let us continually cry out to the Elohim of Israel for the peace of Jerusalem and for the protection of His people. Thirdly, let us never forget that our Elohim longs for us to cry out to him for He honors a holy and a contrite heart. Simply, all you who are weary and burdened cry out to the LORD for in his divine time He will answer you and give you great peace and blessings. Yes, may each of our prayer to the Elohim of Israel be, “Hear My Cry!”
