“The fear of Yahveh is the beginning of wisdom.” (Proverbs 9:10) If we have the fear of man then we are robbing the Almighty of the fear that is due to Him and we are robbed of the wisdom that is a gift from the Almighty by which to walk in obedience and righteousness before Him our Holy God and Savior. It is a double robbery we are robbing Yahveh and the Enemy who “comes to rob, kill, and destroy”, is robbing us. (John 10:10) The fear of Yahveh (the LORD) begins with the acknowledgement that there is one true living holy God, the Creator of heaven and earth. He is the One who has given us life, offers the gift of eternal life, and has given us immutable truths−commandments to live by. For those who are spiritually “born again” “new creations”, His indwelling Holy Spirit gives us the grace, power, and wisdom to obey His commandments because our hearts overflow with love for Him. (John 3:3, 2 Corinthians 5:17) It is a glaring reality that so many professing believers lack the fear of God, because of it, they lack the wisdom and its dictates to seek and obey the word and will of the God and Savior they profess to worship. We respect, honor, and fear Him who is wisdom or we believe the lie over the truth and please man and ourselves and fall subject to His displeasure, grief, and forth-coming judgments.
The Almighty God will contend with those who contend with Him. Wisdom dictates that we humble ourselves before Yahveh and give Him the love, obedience, and glory that are due to Him. How foolish can man be to think that he can deny and defy his Creator, and contend against the knowledge of Him, and think he will come out a winner? Such lack of wisdom of the fear of Yahveh (the LORD) results in the utmost stupidity, rendering a person subject to eternal wrath and eternal torment in the lake of fire (Revelation 20:15). Do not be robbed of wisdom and become as those, who in pride do not want their King and Creator to rule over them making them subject to His wrath and judgment. (see Luke 19:27)
There is a lot of the fear of man in our lives, and it robs Him of the glory. He says, “… Do not fear what they fear …” (Isaiah 8:12) The people of the world fear other people. They want other people’s approval and acceptance; they want a reputation and success in the world. You cannot please Yahveh (the LORD) and please man as Apostle Paul spoke, “For am I now seeking the favor of men, or of God? Or am I striving to please men? If I were still trying to please men, I would not be a bond-servant of Messiah.” (Galatians 1:10) If your ambition is to please yourself, please people, and to love and embrace the things of this temporal world, this makes you an enemy to the almighty Redeemer of your soul because you do not fear Him. This is purely stated through the Apostle James, “You adulterous people, don't you know that friendship with the world means enmity against God? Therefore, anyone who chooses to be a friend of the world becomes an enemy of God.” (James 4:4)
Fear Yahveh, fear the Holy One of Israel, fear the Creator of heaven and earth! Do not fear what people fear; do not fear what they dread. Our Savior exclaimed, “But I will warn you whom to fear: fear the One who, after He has killed, has authority to cast into hell; yes, I tell you, fear Him!” (Luke 12:5) Fear Yahveh (the LORD), the One who has omnipotent power and give Him glory. That fear is His due. Give Him your life dedicated to obey and please Him. Whatever you do in word and deed, be compelled within your heart to bring Him praise, honor and glory. (see Colossians 3:17) The Holy Spirit exhorts us to fear Yahveh (the LORD); don’t be self-centered people-pleasers. Delight when you are rejected, mocked, scorned, ridiculed, and cast out, because you fear Him and desire His favor more than that of others. “Rejoice and be glad, for your reward in heaven is great; for in the same way they persecuted the prophets who were before you.” (Matthew 5:12) Leap for joy, and when you leap for joy, those chains and shackles of the enemy of rejection, they will be broken. The spirit of rejection will have no place in you. Yahshua (Jesus) was rejected; He was despised, and we will be too if we fear Yahveh and not people! Let us count it all joy to suffer with our Savior and to know Him more intimately through these trials.
Let us remember the warnings of Apostle Paul, “Do nothing out of selfish ambition or vain conceit” [so that you obtain personal recognition, man’s approval, and rob the glory for yourself]. (Philippians 2:3) Listen and heed the heart cry of the Psalmist, “Not to us, O Yahveh, not to us, But to Your name give glory …” (Psalm 115:1) All of us are victims of that malady; we want a certain measure of recognition and glory. Do not touch what is His due! Do not touch His glory! Don’t desire for people to lift you up and rave about you or to even respect or admire you. But as His creation all the glory goes to Him our Creator. The obliterating of the knowledge that there is a Creator of heaven and earth is one of Satan’s most deadly deceptions because the god of self steps in, takes over and sits on the throne of our hearts, and rules our lives. In reality it is Satan who has robbed us of truth and poisoned us to eternal death by putting ourselves on the throne, insanely thinking we could dethrone the King of kings, the Lord of lords and the Master of masters.
When we come to faith in the atoning blood of Yahshua (Jesus) we are born again and filled with the deposit of His Holy Spirit. “Therefore if anyone is in Messiah, he is a new creature; the old things passed away; behold, new things have come.” (2 Corinthians 5:17) We are redeemed to live not for ourselves but for our Master whose bondservant we have been redeemed to be. A foreshadowing and emphasizing of this point is found in Exodus when Moses proclaimed Yahveh’s (the LORD’S) heartbeat to Pharaoh (symbolic of Satan), "Let my people go, so that they may worship me.” (Exodus 8:1) We cannot “serve two masters” (Galatians 1:10), we are either going to love the one and hate the other. It is impossible to please Yahveh and man.
Choose you this day whom are you going to serve, if Yahveh is the one true living God serve Him, if self is your god be self-serving, indulgent, and satisfied in all your ways. “Do not be deceived, God is not mocked; for whatever a man sows, this he will also reap.” (Galatians 6:7) If you continually live to please yourself you will reap eternal destruction. If you live to please your Creator, Master, and Savior you will reap eternal life and its infinite glorious cargos of treasure beyond comprehension—eternal joy in His glorious kingdom. All the glory is to go to Yahveh, the minute we try and take any glory for ourselves we are robbing Him and this is the work of “Satan who comes to rob, kill and destroy.” (John 10:10) If we dare to touch and rob the glory due to our almighty Creator, Satan is robbing us of blessings. As a serpent, he the devil, bites us when we touch God’s glory and infects us with deadly poison. The wise raise up their hands in holy reverential awe and will not allow any glory to touch them other than deferring it all to their Creator and King to whom it belongs. Don’t touch what belongs to Yahveh (the LORD): all “blessing and glory and wisdom and thanksgiving and honor and power and might, be to our God forever and ever…” (Revelation 7:12) Give Him the glory that is due His name; worship Him in holiness through repentant hearts, cleansed in the blood of Yahshua (Jesus) your Redeemer. If you do anything short of that, you are a thief; and according to His word, you will be eternally banished if you do not repent. He is the One you are to reverently fear; He is the One you are to glorify in word and deed.
Prayer
Heavenly Father, You have spoken truth that has arrested me in my tracks. I lift up my hands in worship to You. You love me and died to redeem me from Satan and the wages of my sin and I give You control over my life. I am not my own, I belong to You for Your holy purposes and good pleasure. Forgive me for the pride and deception to think that I could live to please myself and others and thrive on the stolen glory that belongs to You. I have sinned. I have not truly recognized Your Kingship and sovereign rule over my life. Forgive and cleanse me. I give You my life as a living and holy sacrifice which is my spiritual service of worship, which is the least I can do for all that You have done for me. (see Romans 12:1) May all the praise, honor, and glory from my words and deeds be a sweet fragrance before You, an acceptable sacrifice that is Your due.
I also humbly ask You for wisdom. I have lacked the fear of You because I have been more concerned with pleasing man and myself. I realize that I am the victim of deception, thinking I could do things my way and man’s way and not seek with all my heart to fear, honor, and please You. I am weak in this area and I ask for forgiveness and for help. My focus needs to be changed. I desire and ask for wisdom that begins with truly knowing what the reverential fear of You, Yahveh (the LORD) is. Please cleanse me with Yahshua’s (Jesus’s) precious blood, from man pleasing self-centered inclinations. Please, by Your grace teach me to fear You and to bring You the praise, honor, and glory due to You. Thank You for the wisdom that is greater than the treasures of this earth that I will gain as You answer my prayer. In Yahshua’s Name, Amen
