A Refiner’s Fire
“Thus you are to be holy to Me, for I Yahveh am holy; and I have set you apart from the peoples to be Mine” (Leviticus 20:26). “… By those who come near Me I will be treated as holy…” (Leviticus 10:3). How few have come before Him in holiness? But He, who is holy, is rousing Himself from His holy dwelling. He says to all mankind: Be still, for according to the plumb line of My truth, My Torah, My law, My Commandments, and My precepts, mankind will be judged. What have we had in “Christianity”? A continual obliteration: “Oh, the Law, we aren’t under the Law, we are under grace to forget the law,” which is to deny the righteousness of the Holy One of Israel! And Satan laughs because we have swallowed the lie.
The remnant is what Yahveh (the LORD) will have. It will be a remnant of the Jews and Gentiles who compose the “one new man” (Ephesians 2:14-16). Zechariah 13:8 speaks of this small group, “It will come about in all the land,” declares Yahveh, “that two parts in it will be cut off and perish.” This is in the very last days. Two thirds of Israel, of the Jews, will be struck down and will perish. Why? They did not repent for their offenses against the Holy One of Israel. This goes back to the curses in Deuteronomy 28. After Moses spoke the curses and blessings to Israel, Yahveh gave Moses a song as a continual reminder of His Commandments. He knew His people were destined to disobedience. So the Holy One told Moses to teach this song to the Israelites, and they to their children, so when the curses fall, and they are under judgment for their disobedience, it would not be a great mystery as to why the judgments from His hand had come upon them.
Yahveh told Ezekiel about the destruction that would come against disobedient Israel. He says, “As for you, son of man, take a sharp sword; take and use it as a barber’s razor on your head and beard. Then take scales for weighing and divide the hair. One third you shall burn in the fire…. Then you shall take one third and strike it with the sword…and one third you shall scatter to the wind; and I will unsheathe a sword behind them. Take also a few in number from them [indicating a remnant who will escape judgment. They will be the recipients of blessings because their hearts are set on righteousness] and bind them in the edges of your robes. Take again some of them and throw them into the fire and burn them in the fire; from it a fire will spread to all the house of Israel” (Ezekiel 5:1-4).
Two thirds are going to be destroyed. Why? They did not carefully listen and set their hearts to obey Yahveh (the LORD). How much more should we learn from Israel’s lessons? We must seek righteousness. We must seek Yahveh our God while He may still be found. “Seek righteousness and live,” says Yahveh (see Matthew 6:33).
This fire coming to Israel is hot. “And I will bring the third part through the fire, refine them as silver is refined, and test them as gold is tested. They will call on My name…” (Zechariah 13:9). HalleluYAH at last, the third part will call on the name of Yahveh, not Elohim, not Adonai, not God, they will call on the name of Yahveh and in that name they will walk. And they will cry out, “Blessed is He (Yahshua) who comes in the name of Yahveh” (Matthew 23:39). The Almighty will say, “‘They are My people,’ and they will say, ‘Yahveh is my God’” (Zechariah 13:9). HalleluYAH! But look what it is going to take. The Holy One’s words are sovereign blessings and curses. We must understand His Commandments, decrees, and precepts. If we say we love Him, we have to obey Him.
